MERYEM UZERLI: VITA
Meryem Uzerli was born on 12 August in Kassel, and has the German-Turkish nationality. She embraces and units both diverse cultures, demonstrated by her two residences - in Berlin and Istanbul.
Already at the Freie Waldorf School in Kassel her artistic potential was supported by numerous theater projects.
At just 17 years - and thus as the youngest student - she enrolled at the Acting Studio Frese and attended it until she was 20 years old. The real breakthrough for Meryem came in 2010 with her role as Hürrem Sultan in one of the most successful Turkish series “Muhte_em Yüzyil” (The Splendid Century).
MERYEM UZERLI: SERIES
The popularity of Meryem Uzerli is based on her particular acting performance in the hit series Magnificent Century (Muhteşem Yüzyıl).
The weekly format is not only the most popular Turkish series with 20 million viewers but glues more than 200 million women, men and children alike to the screen (from the age of 8 to 80 years) in a total of 40 countries in Southeast Europe, Central Asia and the Arab world.
Magnificent Century (Muhteşem Yüzyıl) is a historically inspired television series about the Ottoman Empire at the time of Sultan Süleyman and his wife Hürrem Sultan. Meryem Uzerli plays a rebellious slave (Alexandra) in the harem of the Sultan who later ascends to become the most powerful woman in the empire - Hürrem Sultan (Roxelane).
This is how the most famous love story of the Ottoman Empire came about. She was also the first concubine to be released by a sultan and then to be married by him. This extraordinary event is mentioned in numerous historical documents.
